Laser resurfacing of the eyelids is a unique and rejuvenating treatment of the eye lid and surrounding area. It does not replace a surgical eyelid lift. Resurfacing of the eyelid skin results in smoother, tighter skin with less laxity and discoloration. It is an aggressive treatment and requires a longer recovery time.
Typically, treatment time is 2 hours, under local anesthetic. Eyelid resurfacing has a longer recovery or down time, typically 4-6 weeks. NOTE; the more aggressive the laser, longer downtime or recovery time will be needed. You will see noticeable results in 2 weeks but full recovery can take up to 6 months. Usually, one treatment is needed, but may be repeated in 5 or 10 years, depending on the condition of your skin and your age. As with all laser treatments, excessive sun exposure should be avoided and sunscreen with an SPF of 50 should be used at all times. Any history of skin disorders, cold sores, keloid or hypertrophic scars, eye disease are potential contraindications to laser. Any treatment performed with oral anesthetic requires the patient have a ride home (not UBER or taxi).
