Candidates for IPL Facial Rejuvenation
Most people with pigmentation problems are suitable candidates for IPL facial rejuvenation. The treatment can eliminate or reduce the appearance of the following:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Freckles
- Age spots
- Cherry angiomas
- Telangiestasias
- Rosacea
- Large pores
- Fine lines
IPL Facial Rejuvenation Treatment
The IPL device delivers pulses of light energy that are absorbed by the melanin in the pigmented lesions of the skin. The lesions darken and then disappear or appear dramatically reduced in color. The IPL filters can be quickly switched in and out of the handpiece, changing wavelengths to address different skin concerns. IPL can also be combined with the SkinTyte module to heat the underlying collagen of the skin and stimulate collagen remodeling. Sciton IPL treatment incorporates advanced cooling technology to prevent the skin in the treatment area from getting too hot.
We usually recommend a series of several sessions to achieve the desired outcomes.
Recovering after IPL Facial Rejuvenation
Since IPL facial rejuvenation is minimally invasive, it does not require significant downtime. In fact, our Chicago IPL facial rejuvenation patients can usually resume their normal activities almost immediately after treatment. They may notice mild redness and flaking as the pigmentation of the skin peels off.
Benefits and Risks of IPL Facial Rejuvenation
IPL treatments improve the uniformity of the skin’s tone and texture, addressing irregularities in pigmentation. IPL treatment is often used as a non-ablative alternative to laser skin resurfacing. It can accomplish many of the same goals, using a less-invasive approach. For the patient, this means less downtime and fewer potential complications during recovery. One notable benefit of IPL, when compared to other pulsed light treatments, is that it requires fewer treatment sessions to achieve better outcomes; this may reduce the overall cost for patients.
The potential risks of IPL facial rejuvenation include infection, unfavorable changes in pigmentation or texture, burns and scarring. If you are concerned about these risks, speak with our skincare professionals to learn about the measures they take to avoid these complications.
KybellaⓇ
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. This area is called submental fat and is commonly called a “double chin.”
How It Works
KYBELLAⓇ is deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occuring substance in the body that aids in the breakdown and and absorption of fat in your food. When injected directly into pockets of fat under the chin, deoxycholic acid destroys fat cells and reduces the fullness of the fat pockets.
It is not known if KYBELLA® is safe and effective for use outside of the submental area or in children less than 18 years of age.
Who should not receive KYBELLA®?
You should not receive KYBELLA® if you have an infection in the treatment area.
Before receiving KYBELLA®, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you: Have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area; have had or have trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; do not use KYBELLA® if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if KYBELLA® will harm your unborn baby); are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed (it is not known if KYBELLA® passes into your breast milk; talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby if you receive KYBELLA®).
Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your healthcare provider if you take a medicine that prevents the clotting of your blood (antiplatelet or anticoagulant medicine).
